The Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Kano State chapter, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, has described the Appeal Court judgment against the incumbent Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), as a victory to the teeming masses of the state, especially thw victims of demolition by the incumbent administration.

Recall that the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Friday affirmed the tribunal’s verdict, declaring the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, as the winner of the governorship election.

Making this known on Saturday in an interview in Kano, Alhaji Abbas stated that the victory is a clear indication that their party won the election at the initial stage.

He said that, “I am happy to inform all those that fall victims of demolition by the NNPP administration at Eid ground, Salanta, and other places that this is their victory, and their saviour has arrived.

“We assure the people of Kano that their responsible government has returned, so they have nothing to fear.”

The APC Chairman then appealed to their teeming supporters to continue to conduct themselves peacefully, and accordingly with the aim of having a peaceful society.

While commenting on the move of the NNPP to drag the matter before the Supreme Court, the APC chairman noted that they have the assurance of winning the case even at the Supreme Court with the evidence on ground.

In his response to the Court of Appeal judgment that upheld the removal of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, the Kano state chairman of NNPP, Alhaji  Hashimu Dungurawa, disclosed that the party will  appeal the ruling at the Supreme Court.

He however expressed the party’s dissatisfaction with the ruling, emphasizing their determination to take the case to the Supreme Court.

He added that they will pursue the case in the Supreme Court to assert the mandate of the people of Kano.

Dungurawa highlighted the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the body responsible for declaring or accepting candidates, emphasizing that the court’s intervention in such matters is inappropriate.
