Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has warned against insinuations that there is bickering between him and his predecessor, Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola. He is confident that the Minister will see to his success.
He noted that he served Aregbesola for eight years, ensuring the success of his administration between 2010 to 2018 and he will surely see to his (Oyetola) success as the governor.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ismail Omipidan, yesterday reacting to misinformation by a newspaper(not The Nation) titled “Osun Guber: I’m not counting on Aregbesola’s support — Oyetola “ explained that there was nowhere Governor Adegboyega Oyetola made the statement that was credited to him.
He said, “the live radio programme was listened to by millions of Nigerians, what the governor said was that having worked for the success of his predecessor for eight years, there was no reason Aregbesola would not support him.
“Well, those people, I’m not too sure that the people that have been saying that, are saying his mind. I believe he is my brother and I believe at any point in time he wants my success because I worked very hard for eight years for his own success as well.
“If people are saying that (they won’t support me) I’m not too sure they are telling the story from his own heart. He remains my brother. They are not speaking his mind. Like I said, I don’t see why he would not be willing to support me if the people say they want me.”
