Management of Arthur Javis University, Akpabuyo in Cross River State has called on the state government and other agencies to come to their aid in reconstructing the road leading to the institution’s campus.

Management says the road will cost N2 billion and is a difficult task for the institution to singularly undertake, hence the call for public intervention.

The estimated over two-kilometre road leading to the university’s campus is characterised by a sloppy topography, hilly and prone to erosion.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the management had been struggling to get a standard road network for the past 16 years but all its efforts was in vain.

The Vice Chancellor, Sir Arthur Javis Archibong, said that the road project will cost about N2 billion, adding that the institution does not have the capacity to reconstruct it, hence resorted to the state government and public aid.

“It is a difficult task for us to spend almost N2 billion to reconstruct the road. Without mincing words, there are private universities in this country being assisted by state governments. We use this opportunity to call on the Cross River State government to assist us in order to make the road passable.

“I can say it loud that this university has not benefited anything from either the federal or state governments since its inception. Not even a transformer. Every investment here is from Arthur Javis University. We call on the state government and private organizations to come and assist us,” the vice chancellor said
