Management of The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara state, has advised students to be of good conduct and take their academic activities which is their primary aim on campus as priority.

The Rector, Dr. Lateef Olatunji made this known in his speech during the orientation programme held at the 1,000 capacity auditorium, Main Campus.

Dr. Olatunji added that the new intakes are lucky to sail through admission hurdles and admitted into the Polytechnic.

He further implored the students to stay away completely from drug abuse, cultism and the likes, saying that the Polytechnic has zero tolerance for these vices.

He added that stealing, cultism, physical and sexual assault are prohibited.

“If you are caught, the Polytechnic will apply appropriate sanction, which may include outright expulsion” he warned.

Also speaking, Dean, Directorate of Examinations, Mr. Tunde Lawal admonished students to protect their studentship by not indulging in examination malpractices. He advised the students to always get to the examination venue 30 minutes before the stipulated time and never enter the venue with incriminating materials.

According to him: ” Examination and character are the two measures that we use to determine whether you are worthy of the certificate of this great institution. Conduct yourself very well and do do not enter the venue with extraneous materials.”

While analyzing the examination offences, Mr. Lawal said: ” Any digital electronics whether working or not are prohibited.”

 

 

The prohibited electronic materials include: Handset, Digital Wristwatch, electronic pen, earpiece among others.

Speaking further, the Dean of examination added that exchanging question papers, answer booklet, writing on the question paper, jotting on palms, laps, speaking inside examination hall, indecent dressing, untidy hair cut are offences and prohibited in examination halls.

The Deputy Registrar SERVICOM, Mr. Omole emphasizes on discipline and morality on campus. He added that students are free to report any cases of extortion, sexual harassment and assault to Servicom without any fear.

The Polytechnic Chief Security Officer, Mr. Moshood Ibrahim beseeches students to be security conscious at all time and report any untoward incidents to the security personnel on campus.

The Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Waheed Balogun congratulated the students as new intakes and charged them to always tailor their grievances to the Directorate of Students’ Affairs and SERVICOM as all grievances will be addressed accordingly.

 

 


Other speakers at the programme are Engr. Dr. Ajao and Mrs Ronke Adeshina, Director of ICT and Deputy Registrar Academics respectively.
While the HOD Languages, Mrs K.R Olatinwo led the Department in performance of a playlet titled Reminiscence written by Dr. Shola Ojeniyi
