Authorities from the Borno State Police Command apprehended a young man and woman for engaging in sexual activity inside the worship centre of the All Saints Protestant Church situated within the premises of the Police College in Maiduguri.

The individuals, identified as Kaka Ali Umar from Damboa Road and Khadija Adam from the Ngomari area of Maiduguri, were taken into custody on Monday.

According to Rev. Danjuma Adamu, the pastor of the church, the couple was discovered engaging in sexual intercourse inside the church premises when they were apprehended by the police.

“We rushed into the church, and behold, we met the two Muslims in the act, to which we promptly alerted the police.

“Yes, it was disgraceful and a desecration of the house of God, but we promptly informed the police, and they were arrested and detained at the Metro Division of the police.

“They did not deny it. They were having sex right inside the church when they were caught. They confessed at the station, so as we speak now, they are being detained,” Rev. Adamu said.

The State Police Command has not issued any statement on the incident.
