Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) who are helping military in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East has raised alarm over fake commanders and members who claim to be the part of the organisation in Abuja and Port Harcourt.

Speaking during a press conference in Maiduguri on Thursday, the National Auditor General of CJTF, Bashir Abbas revealed that the fake commanders and members who are parading themselves as Civilians JTF identified as Nwachukwu Ada who claimed to be the National President in Abuja while
Aminu Sani, Ibrahim Kelani and others as EXCO members.

He warned members of the public against falling prey to fake commanders and members of CJTF.

According to him, members of CJTF have identification number provided to them by the Nigeria Army and office of National Security Adviser and the headquarters of group is in Maiduguri, not Abuja.

He called on the Nigerian Police to arrest Nwachukwu who was a former member of CJTF before he was expelled from the group for indiscipline and extortion.

“Our goal is to protect and provide security to the people, our Organisation is not a political group, anybody that use CJTF as a political group will be dealt with accordingly.

“Civilians JTF is operating in 20 states in the federation, we are warning any person or group of persons to desist from parading themselves as our members.”

He said the headquarters of CJTF is in Maiduguri and for more clarification people should contact the headquarters and leaders of the group to avoid falling to an unauthorized headquarters misleading Nigerians in Abuja and Port Harcourt.

“We wish to emphasise our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of transparency and integrity in helping military and other security outfits in protecting lives and properties of our dear country.

“The CJTF is a youth vanguard group formed in 2013 in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, we currently have over 26,000, we are gallantly complementing the effort of Nigeria Army in providing security in the North-East and other part of the North-West,” said Abbas.
