In a recent ruling at the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, Tiwei Monday received a sentence of sixteen years imprisonment, while Clement Ododomu, a vandal, was sentenced to death by hanging.

The judgement, delivered on October 11, 2023, by Judge Hakeem Oshodi, found both Ododomu and Monday guilty of conspiracy and murder charges.

Justice Oshodi pronounced the verdict on Tuesday, emphasising the convicted individuals’ lack of remorse and the compelling evidence presented during the trial as crucial factors in determining their punishment.

The defendants, identified as vandals, stood trial for the murders of seven State Department policemen in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

The judge said: “The court has considered the allocutus of the defence counsel; however, the position of the law is binding to us all.

As noted above, the first defendant was convicted on counts one, five, seven, nine, and 10, while the second defendant was convicted on counts one and 10.”
