Niger/Kogi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has said that it has recorded seizures of contraband goods and detention of 11 exotic vehicles  with cumulative duty paid value which stands  at over N56.6 million.

Customs Comptroller in charge of the Command, Mr.  Busayo Oluwagbenga Kadejo made the disclosure at a press briefing while displaying the seized items and revealed the  revenue collection at the headquarters of the Niger/ Kogi Area Command of the service held at the Command’s headquarters on Tuesday in Minna.

Mr Busayo Kadejo stated further that the interception of a smuggled Range Rover, and  Land Rover 2019 model with diplomatic vehicle registration number plate with its concomitant and dangerous security implications necessitated  the media briefing.

He also noted that this year that the Niger/ Kogi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has arrested and handed over 317 packages of substances suspected to be  compressed Cannabis Sativa weighing 253..6 Kilograms with an estimated street value of over N20 million.

Badejo added that  despite the fact that the Command has no Sea Port, Airport Bonded terminals, Excusable factory with only border with the Republic of Benin domiciled in the Command at Babanna village in Borgu LGA of Niger State, adding that the Federal Government’s directive on border closure is still in force at Babanna saying, “that the Command, still stands shoulder high in making her impacts felt”.

Speaking further on revenue generation,the Customs Comptroller,Niger/ Kogi Area Command,  Mr. Busayo Kadejo explained that his abled Officers and Men of the  Command, were able to realize over N10million, this month.

He further commended the positive role of providing an enabling environment by the Comptroller General Nigeria Customs Service Mr. Adewale Adeniyi and his team, as well as the two Governors of Niger and Kogi states which he pointed out  had made their work a little bit easier and a huge success.

Mr. Busayo Kadejo asides  from applauding Journalists for discharging their duties deligently, however warned suspected smugglers and criminal elements that  no matter how highly placed,  to desist otherwise he said they will be arrested and made to face the full wrath  of the law.
