A recent market survey conducted by Nigerian Tribune has a contrary view as some prices have remained the same from last week till this week, while some prices of foodstuff appreciated between last week and this week.
At the Maitama Market, Kubwa village, Abuja, a kilogram of meat sold for N5000 last week and still maintained the same price this week.
A kilogram of chicken (hard) in this same market was N4700 last week, while this week the price appreciated to N5300. Titus fish maintained N5000 per kilogram from last week through this week.
The price of rice per mudu did not change from N2000, N2200, or N2400 depending on the product, while the price of beans remained N2000 per mudu.
The price of crayfish increased from N3500 it sold last week to N4000 per mudu this week and the price of garri per mudu maintained N1000 from last week through this week.
Furthermore, a medium carton of dried fish (asa) sold for N90,000 last two weeks Monday, and the next Monday, the same fish sold for N100,000.
Generally, Nigerian Tribune learned that the prices of food are still on the increase. Some of the marketers complained about the cost of transportation which they said is still very high.
