The recently revealed case of double salary, knowingly taken by some Ministers and other public appointees appears to have been brushed under the official carpet of President Akufo-Addo.

It may be recalled that a few months ago, it was published and announced by the Ghanaian media that certain high-profile appointed officials of past governments, involving both NPP and NDC had been beneficiaries of double salary. A statement revealed that the affected officials, most of whom were members of parliament, and had been elevated to be ministers of state, took their salaries both as MPs and Ministers respectively.

Our bush telegraph sources can reliably and confidently disclose that the callous and unfeeling so-called thieving “honourables” are being shielded by Akufo-Addo, who is providing these miscreant scoundrels with presidential fiat protection from criminal prosecution.

Ghanaians are hereby asking, is knowingly taking double salary as a public appointed official not an instance of corruption, and loss of honour?
Is it not this self-same Akufo-Addo who bragged about to deal drastically with all manner of corruption, and thieves of the State?

Ghana’s Accountant-General has made it known to Ghanaians on several occasions that over 70% of Ghana’s income is spent on payment of salaries only.

In the UK, members of parliament who made either unwarranted or false expenses claims had to refund the money so claimed to the last penny, and faced jail term accompanied with loss of honour. This is a nation that is governed by principles. They give Ghana 0.3% of their tax-prayers money as grants every year. We depend on these grants for our development projects, whiles our country is dressed in corruption, and our Presidents become complicities to such a heinous crime that retrogresses Ghana’s socio-economic development.

Mr President Akufo-Addo, a self-proclaimed “fixer of the broken”, parliament makes laws for us Ghanaians to follow and obey. Do they exclude themselves from obedience of the laws so-made? Was fighting against corruption not a major component of your campaign promise? Therefore Mr President, how sincere are you with your own words, and what is your stance, particularly on the double salary scandal?
