National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has said that it will open more offices at 774 local government areas to fight menace of drug abuse at the grassroots level across the country.

Speaking at the presentation of books on the menace of drug abuse written by the Kwara state Commander of the agency, the national chairman of the NDLEA, Brigadier-General Muhammed Buba Marwa (RTD), represented by the Director of Internal Affairs and Provost Marshall of NDLEA, Dr. Malami Sokoto, said that the fight against the menace of drug abuse should be total.

He called for the collaboration of all stakeholders to ensure that the problem of drug abuse among the youth is reduced to the barest minimum.

The NDLEA boss, who said that falling victim to drug abuse is not a death sentence, added that it can be treated and cured.

Also speaking, the chairman of the occasion, Engineer Lanre Sagaya, said that the menace of drug abuse has taken new dimension.

He said the involvement of the youth in drug abuse is a thing of concern to everyone.

Engineer Sagaya appealed to parents to keep close watch on their children to prevent them from joining bad groups.

In his remarks, the keynote speaker, Director General, Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies, Comrade Issa Aremu, said the books would guide the youth on the need to stay away from drug abuse.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Muhammed Tunde Akanbi, said that the students needed to be educated on the danger of getting involved in drug abuse.
