Former Manchester United star, Gary Neville, has lauded Cristiano Ronaldo for breaking the football goalscoring record.
Ronaldo’s hat-trick for Man United against Tottenham on Saturday saw him break another goalscoring record.
The 37-year-old’s opener took him level with Austrian-Czech’s Josef Bican in the FIFA record books on 805 professional career goals.
Recall that Bican played between 1931 and 1957, scoring 805 goals.
Ronaldo then broke the record with goal number 806 of his career with a tap-in to put Man United 2-1 up later in the first-half.
He, however, extended his goals tally to 807 in the second half.
Neville, on commentary for the Tottenham meeting, said: “That record is absolutely outrageous, 805 goals at international and club level, well done to him, what a player.”
He added: “I was just about to say how safe this game was, tentative, nothing happening, no expression and then an absolute explosion of brilliance from Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s almost like one of his free-kicks, there’s no wall, the power, backlift is absolutely sensational from Cristiano Ronaldo, touch out of his feet, Dier stands off… absolute beauty of a goal.” Continue Reading
