The Breath of Life

Without ignition, there’s no recognition.

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” – Genesis 2:7 (King James Version). Entrepreneurship is a spirit; leadership is its soul while society is its body. Without the spirit, the body is dead! Entrepreneurship is a function of the entrepreneur. Everything rises and falls on leadership (will). Without entrepreneurs, society will be lifeless and the economy’s ‘wheel’ stagnated. Leadership is the lifeblood of entrepreneurship. God created man in his image and after his likeness. The breath of life made man a living soul. So, what is the breath of God? It is the life and power of God, given to man to animate him. It is one thing to create something (give birth to); it is another thing to animate it (give life to). You have the life and power of God to think creatively and also animate your brain child by undertaking responsibility.

Entrepreneurship is essentially about problem-solving. The solutions to the myriad of societal problems are domiciled in the soul of man. The soul is said to be related to the following entities: conscience, courage, ego, feeling, genius, heart, intellect, intelligence, life, mind, personality, spirit, stuff, thought, vitality, body, character, creature, ghost, human being. God created man (male and female) and made him a living soul. Entrepreneurs are next to God! They are creators in their own right. They also form from the ‘dust’ by thinking outside of the prescribed formulas. They animate their creative ideas by moving from ideation to implementation, and from conceptualization to commercialization.

Entrepreneurs are creators just like God, who out of seemingly insignificant resources, create things that count. An entrepreneur doesn’t say ‘I can’t’; rather, he leverages creativity which is his most valuable, available, stable and sustainable asset to form something crude at creation, which will later evolve and morph into something more definite and refined. Every entrepreneur has a personality and every business or brand has a soul. When entrepreneurs think and act conscientiously and consistently, they breathe life (their personality, aura, soul and thoughts – PAST) into their works and make them living solutions. Entrepreneurship is a spirit, those who practice it must engage in spirit (creativity) and in truth (leadership). With respect to entrepreneurship, the breath of life is the power of creativity, leadership, originality, character and knowledge (CLOCK). Entrepreneurs don’t just create (model), they also animate (make alive)! To animate means to bring something to life or give expression to something. The technical way to think of this is to simply substitute ‘animate’ for ‘innovate’. It therefore makes sense to think of entrepreneurs as not just individuals or organizations who create something from nothing, they are also innovators who animate creativity with the instrumentality of the breath of ‘life’ called implementation. Innovation is simply animated creativity.

From ‘dust’ to industry

Industry

Definitions: Economic activity concerned with the processing of raw materials and manufacture of goods in factories. It is the organized action of making of goods and services for sale. Entrepreneurship is the spirit of creativity. It is the spirit of process (organization) and the process of the ‘spirit’ (innovation). Industry is simply the organization of innovation. An idea is the smallest unit of businesses, processes, programs, products, organisations, etc. All of these entities can become lifeless and useless if and when the breath of life ceases. The entrepreneur’s will is the power source that ignites action, traction and motion (ATM) in business.

So, what is the entrepreneur’s breath of life?

The breath of ‘CLOCK’:

Creativity, Leadership, Originality, Character and Knowledge – The Entrepreneur’s ‘wheel’

Entrepreneurs turn creativity into reality. They are known for their special ability to envision possibilities and birth them into reality. The mind is for imagination while the will is for implementation. Entrepreneurship is the practice of problem-solving, innovation, value-creation, opportunity-finding and technology application (PIVOT). Societal transformations are brought about by both qualitative (innovative) and quantitative (imitative) entrepreneurship. However, transformation is at the mercy of implementation – our thoughts will be completely fruitless if they are not manifested. All entrepreneurial leaders are thinkers who give a face to their ideas by committing resources – time, energy, attitude and money (TEAM) to their endeavours. Successful inventions and innovations are not mere results of creative energies; they are products of guided and informed decisions and actions geared towards launching out relevant, useful and necessary products or solutions. Implementation is optimized when you put into consideration, the fact that the test of necessity scores higher than the tests of usefulness and relevance. An idea may be useful but not necessary. An idea may be relevant but not useful in a different setting. If an idea is necessary, it is both useful and relevant. Entrepreneurs from all walks of life achieve different results due to their ability to identify and implement the best ideas or opportunities that bring desirable profit and impact.

The breath of life

Learning, Improvement, Faith, Empowerment

The meaning of life is “learning, improvement, faith and empowerment”. God’s breath is like a fresh wind that renews us. The evidences and expressions of ‘life’ can be seen in the genuineness, uniqueness and newness (GUN) a brand or business exudes from time to time. An entrepreneur has a responsibility to keep his business renewed and continued via a commitment to deepen creativity, leadership, originality, character and knowledge (CLOCK). Entrepreneurs are leaders and, leaders are readers. So, strengthen your mind by reading and deepen your strengths by thinking. Minds and ‘wheels’ run businesses organisations, industries, associations, nations, etc.

“It is important to use our highly developed faculty of thought to raise our existence above that of mere creatures. Simply eating, sleeping, working and procreating can’t distinguish us from animals. Without thinking, lives are not worth living.” Possibilities are responsibilities. Without undertaking responsibility, lives are not worth living.

Industry is not built staying indoors, so get up and do the needful.
