Bauchi Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has expressed plans to appoint aides from among religious groups affiliated to Christian and Muslim sects in the state.

The Governor gave the indication while granting audience to a forum of Chief Imams from various Juma’at Mosques within Bauchi Metropolis.

Bala Mohammed explained the appointments when effected, will further support government’s commitment in Societal Re-orientation.

To this end, he expressed displeasure over the inability of the State Hisbah Commission to address the increasing immorality and anti social behaviours negatively affecting the attitude of Youths and children across the state.

To this end, he assured to reposition the Board in a manner that would allow confident persons to carryout their activities effectively.

While expressing dissatisfaction with the mode of preaching by some Clerics capable of inciting public disorder, the Governor urged the religious leaders to use their knowledge in propagating the real teaching of the religion.

The Governor appreciated them for their continuous prayers and support to his administration assuring that the administration will continue to partner with them in achieving set objectives and success.

Bala Mohammed urged them to continue to propagate Islamic religion without any defects particularly hate speeches and preaching that will promote disunity in the State.

He also said that his Administration will not impose on religious leaders any doctrine that is against the religion and the common good of the people.

The Governor then directed the State Commissioner of Religious Affairs and Community Relations as well as the SSG to liaise with all religious groups and sects so as to come up with an acceptable list for the appointments.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the State Commissioner, Ministry of Religious Affairs Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim Hamza said that they were at the Government House to congratulate the Governor on his recent Supreme Court victory.

He described the move to reposition the Hisbah Board as a step in the right direction just as he also assured the Ministry’s commitment to complement the Governor’s effort towards addressing all forms of deviant behaviors.

The Commissioner commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his support to religious leaders and groups in the State.
