Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed the determination of his administration to curtail the menace of political thuggery and other related social vices in the state.

The governor noted that over two hundred political thugs and phone thieves who have been apprehended by the Kano Command of the Nigeria Police have repented and are now useful to society.

He made the assertion on Friday when he received the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, who paid Sallah Homage to the Governor at Government House Kano.

According to him, since his assumption of office barely 10 months ago, his administration has embarked on a massive campaign against political thuggery.

He stated, “No society will develop without the contribution of the youth. That’s why our administration gives much priority to the development of the youth.

“We’ve initiated different empowerment schemes for women geared towards making them self-reliant.

Among the priorities of his stewardship were enhancing healthcare service delivery, education, and infrastructure.

He said since his assumption, health facilities within the metropolitan and other local governments have been upgraded and provided with modern equipment for effective service delivery.

He said that the construction of the two gigantic modern flyovers in the metropolitan area is ongoing, and our vision is to make Kanoobe one of the best commercial cities across the globe.

‘Our administration had constituted a committee that would investigate the wrongdoings and misappropriations made by the immediate past administration with the aim of recovering the looted properties and public funds.

Earlier, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, said they were at the house to pay homage to the governor, as it had been the tradition of the Emirate for decades.

He commenced the commitment of the Kano State Government to providing laudable developmental projects that would uplift the well-being of the general populace.

Emir Bayero then called on parents to expedite action in monitoring the whereabouts of their children, geared towards curtailing the menace of social violence and political thuggery.
