A socio-economic group, Grassroots For Itesiwaju Ipinle Oyo has advised the state workforce not to be partisan as it negates the civil service ethics

The group has in a statement by its convener, Dr Bello Rasaq expressed concerns over the plan of the workers to organize solidarity walks for Governor Seyi Makinde’s led PDP administration in the state.

The group, therefore, urged the civil servants to leave the politicking to politicians by concentrating on their primary responsibility as enshrined in the constitution and civil service code of ethics.

The state government, according to the statement should concentrate on improving the standard of education instead of coercing the teachers to begin walking for the governor.

According to him, the state is now 33rd out of 36 states in WAEC rating while the Polytechnic Ibadan has been ranked from number 4th to 24th position, which is a total failure on the part of the government.

The group further said it expected Makinde to resign considering the recent delisted of 50 schools by the WAEC for examination malpractices but he was busily junketing Abuja-Ibadan over party politics and selfish desire.

Grassroots For Itesiwaju Ipinle Oyo, therefore, faulted the governor for bribing the director of schools with N500million to begin moving from one school to another and organising fake solidarity walk5 for him when he knew he had killed the education of the state.

“For you to know that Makinde is confused about revitalising our education, he recently began a move to reintroduce the school governing board, a laudable concept of our former late governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi. The concept really helped the education sector in the state. But out of “bad bele politics”, Makinde scraped it. But today, the effect is a failure.

“It is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf Governor Makinde has done damage to the education sector in Oyo State. We pray God gives us a better governor on Saturday, else the education sector would be dead in the state.

“We fault the solidarity walk in strong terms and we expect Makinde and his supporters who are civil servants to be careful of turning our schools into campaign grounds. We expect the teachers to know their primary responsibilities, rather than engaging in politics.”
