As preparation for 2023 election starts gathering momentum, there have been alignments and counter-alignment by political parties and their aspirants strategizing on how to win at the poll.
There are attempts by Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State to ensure consensus among aspirants instead of going for primary, among the constituencies where consensus seems working is Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency.
Consensus efforts in Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency favored erstwhile Chairman of Surulere South LCDA, Hon. Ojo Makanjuola (Smato), although, at the earliest stage, there were dissenting voices but series of meetings with the State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde and other notable stakeholders have been able to resolve their differences.
Our correspondent gathered that another meeting of such was scheduled with the State Governor today with all the aspirants in attendance. After few moment of deliberations with the Governor, Hon. Folaranmi Banji, Hon. Ibrahim Gbodeniyi, Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye and Hon. Alagbe Adewale unanimously accepted the party supremacy and agreed to support one of them, Hon. Ojo Makanjuola Smato in the coming election.
Our anonymous source said “The meeting today was indeed productive and a clear indicator that victory in Ogooluwa/Surulere is nonnegotiable.
We all know that all the aspirants are experienced, versatile and grassroot politicians, they have their tentacles spread across the constituency, their resolution to work together is like going to cutlass fight with rocket launcher, the incumbent Rep in that constituency should start packing his load because definitely, he can’t withstand this coming tsunami”.
The State Governor reportedly appreciated all the aspirants for their spirit of sportsmanship and he assured them of his utmost supports.
The aspirants also gave accolades to the Governor for the divine wisdom he is using to manage the affairs of the state and the party, they also promised to always give their best to his administration. Continue Reading
