Trending video of a member of the National Assembly representing Ido/Ibarapa Federal Constituency, Hon. Aderemi Oseni, confirming the release of substantial amounts of monies to cushion the effect of the economic hardship to the various constituencies has pitched the lawmakers against the electorates in Oyo state.

Hon Oseni, the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on FERMA  in a video that went viral said, “let me say this for the whole world to hear. Let anyone who has given me any dime apart from the money the President (Bola Tinubu) gave us, should come out and say it.

“I challenge the person to come out publicly and tell the people.

“President gave us money to go back to our constituencies and take care of our people.

“It is not a private thing now. It was done through the ministry of Agric that we should take (items); go back and take care of our people,””

Asked further by journalists that some federal lawmakers are yet to distribute any grains to their constituents, Oseni laughed, saying it was their problem.

Oyo state residents that called into a phone in programme in an Ibadan-based radio station, lamented that many of the state lawmakers including two senators and a number of House of Representatives’ members are yet to do anything concerning distribution of relief materials to their constituents.

One of the callers from Ona Ara local government said, “we need to ask these people what they have been doing for their people. Hon Remi Oseni came out clean to say the President gave support to the federal lawmakers yet some of them are saying they haven’t received anything.

“Of all our three Senators, we have seen Oloye Sharafadeen Alli giving support to the people of Oyo South. Oloye Alli is doing many great things for our people.

“The one for Oyo Central, Senator Yunus Akintunde denied receiving any rice from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Oyo North Senator, Fatai Buhari has not been seen or heard saying anything about the issue,” the caller lamented.

Another caller from Iseyin said while both Hon. Adigun Abass Agboworin and Hon Stanley Adedeji Olajide (Odidiomo) confirmed the support given to them and have been seen distributing rice and all sorts of support for their people, Hon. Shina Oyedeji (O’ Shine) said on a popular radio in Ibadan two weeks ago that he has not received such rice till now.

“Other federal Reps too have either remained silent or evasive on this matter.

“This is not the time to keep mum because our people are suffering and voted for them to represent their interests and not their personal interests,” the caller inisists.

A youth leader that called in from Ogbomoso said, “it is baffling to see those claiming never to have received anything changing vehicles and flying first class in recent time. It is therefore important for the leadership of the National Assembly especially the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass to publish what the government has given to the lawmakers to cushion the sufferings of their people.

“Making this public would allow the people to know their real enemies between the current president and the members of the National Assembly including the State Governments that have done little or nothing to cushion the current economic problems in the country,” the anchor person corroborated the views of the callers.
