Osun state Governor Adegboyega Oyetola yesterday urged security operatives in the state to fish out killers of chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) of Atakumosa East local government area of the state, Chief Gbenga Ogbara.

Nationnewslead assembled that the APC chair was killed in the early hours of yesterday when gunmen invaded his residence at Igangan town.

His wife, Ruth, and son, Aregbesola, were injured in the attack.

Aregbesola narrated how the assailants killed his father.

Oyetola, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, directed security operatives to beef up security in the area and fish out the killers of the APC chair.

He said, “We are resolved to do everything possible to protect citizens from actual and potential threats. To this end, we have ordered security beef-up around the Igangan area. We have also directed security operatives to launch an extensive manhunt  so as to fish out those responsible for the killing of the late APC chieftain.”

Similarly, APC through its state chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, in a statement, condemned the killing of Chief Ogbara.

He said, “The deceased’s wife, Mrs Ruth Kehinde Ogbara and his child, Isaac Aregbesola Ogbara, who were also wounded by the night marauders, are being treated in an undisclosed hospital in Ilesa.

“The assassination of Ogbara was wicked, callous, uncalled for, shocking and primitive. For whatever reason, it is grossly improper to settle any rift with killing.”

Aregbesola Ogbara said, “We were coming from the shop yesterday with my mother when we saw some people on the bike.

“Minutes later, one of them knocked on our gate demanding to see my father, when he approached the gate to open it, my father spotted the danger and attempted to run but was shot in the back several times.

“The assailants shot at us through the window and one of the bullets hit my left hand.”

The Osun State Police Command through its spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident to our correspondent, noting that operatives have been drafted to the area. Continue Reading
