IT expert, Adebunmi Adewusi, has articulated a compelling case for redirecting global attention toward the intersection of technology and agriculture.

With six years of technical, analytical, and communicative prowess in the Agric value chain business, specifically in Agric Tech, Adewusi emphasised the pressing need to address real-world challenges through the lens of Agriculture, Technology, Business, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)/cybersecurity.

In an interactive session where he shared his dreams and success stories about how he’s using agricultural technology to solve some of the challenges rocking the world, Adewusi expounds on his journey, detailing the dynamic interplay of his childhood passion for computer science, a serendipitous immersion into Agriculture Technology.

Describing it as a deliberate effort to tackle contemporary issues at the confluence of technology and agriculture, the graduate of Agriculture Technology from the University of Ilorin said his passion revolves around his commitment to leveraging technology to solve challenges within the agricultural sector.

Speaking about how the journey into ICT began, Adewusi who is currently studying for Master’s in Computer Science with Cybersecurity specialisation and Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Bowling Green State University in the United States, stated that his unique trajectory began with a childhood fascination with computers, setting the stage for a deep interest in computer science and IT.

He revealed how circumstances led to a school relocation from Northern Nigeria to Western Nigeria due to insurgency challenges, marking a turning point, and propelling him into the realm of Agriculture Technology.

According to him, “This shift prompted a profound exploration of the impact of technology on agriculture and supply chain dynamics.”

His academic pursuits in Agriculture Technology provided Adewusi with a solid foundation in modern farming practices and the digitization of agriculture.

Recognizing the evolving landscape, “I have  dedicated myself to acquiring technical skills, including programming languages like Python, and delved into the intricacies of cybersecurity.”

He stated further how he actively sought interdisciplinary knowledge to bridge the gap between Agriculture, Technology, Business, and AI/cybersecurity.

In his words “We must continually emphasise the importance of a holistic understanding of the agricultural supply chain, business dynamics, and cybersecurity to envision solutions that are both technologically advanced and commercially viable.”

He pointed out that the  crux of his mission lies in his passion for applying technology to addressing real-world challenges, particularly in the context of food sustainability.

As an IT consultant at Bowling Green State University, his daily job entails performing daily back up operations and ensuring all file systems data are successfully backed up.

He also conducts regular troubleshooting and network maintenance on all user accounts.

Managing the company’s social media engagement, lead generation, and website continuous improvement.

His projects involve the application of AI to predict crop yields, optimize supply chain logistics, and tackle unique cybersecurity challenges in agricultural settings.

“Throughout my journey, collaboration and networking with professionals across diverse fields have shaped my experiences and enriched his perspective.”

Adewusi  noted that his narrative is characterised by a blend of childhood curiosity, adaptability, and a deliberate acquisition of skills spanning Agriculture, Technology, Business, and AI/cybersecurity.

“My unwavering motivation is rooted in the prospect of contributing to a more resilient and sustainable future for the agriculture and food supply chain,” he added.
