A man, Taiwo Ajadi, has filed a divorce case against his wife, Mariam, at the Area Court, Ilorin, Kwara State over alleged disobedience and wayward attitude.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Taiwo also appealed for the custody of their three children who are two girls and a boy.

Mr Maruf Ibrahim, counsel for the respondent told the court that his client, Mariam, agreed to divorce, but not on the basis of the allegations leveled against her.

Ibrahim told the court that his client was not in any way disobedient to her husband or wayward.

He, however, said that the respondent also wants custody of their three children.

The counsel described the children as minors and prayed the court to make the plaintiff responsible for their school fees and upkeep.

The presiding judge, AbdulQadir Ibrahim, said the applicant should produce evidence and witnesses on reasons why he should have custody of their children.

He adjourned the case till March 20.
