The Inspector General of Police, IGP Muhammed Bala has commended the police in the entire South East over peaceful Presidential/National Assembly election, last February 25.
Represented by Deputy Inspector General, DIG John Ogbonnaya Amadi who represents the south east zone in the Force Management Team, the police boss noted “On the whole of the south east, there was no infraction that led to arrest of any police officer.
“The IGP is happy and want a repeat of that in the forthcoming election”.
According to the IGP Thursday afternoon while addressing the officers and men of the Abia State Command in Umuahia, “Anyone who wants to snatch the ballot box will be properly dealt with.
“In the next 24 hours, election will be on the way, hence the need to provide conducive environment for voters to cast their votes.
“All should not to entertain any fears. Anyone that want to come in form of thuggery, will have himself to blame”.
He said it is the primary duty of the police to protect lives and property, adding, “this time around, our visitors and monitors will be given proper security. The police will continue to remain neutral.
“We did perfectly well in the last election and promise that we are going to replicate same”.
He assured that the election will be free, fair and credible and used the opportunity to warn those planning to disrupt the Governorship/State Assembly Elections in Abia and the entire South East that they will die if they try it
“Police will not tolerate disturbance of the election. Non-state actors are hereby warned.
“If don’t want to die, don’t disrupt the electoral system. Cast your votes, go home and wait for the results”, he said.
