Amidst controversies trailing the presidential/National Assembly Elections, the traditional ruler of the Ihim autonomous community in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State HRH Eze Oliver Ohanwe has advised politicians who lost their deposits at the polls to shun acts capable of plunging the country into anarchy.

The Monarch, the First Vice Chairman of the Niger Delta Traditional Rulers Association, said that such dejected and disillusioned politicians should rather seek redress in a court of competent jurisdiction to strengthen the nation’s fledging democracy.

Eze Ohanwe said that experience has shown that whenever there is an election in the country, what usually follows is allegations and counter-allegations by the politicians but we should understand that in any election, winners must emerge and losers must emerge but the courts are there to handle all cases brought before them

Speaking to a newsman at his private residence in Owerri, on Saturday, the Monarch noted that the worst civilian administration regime is better than the best military regime globally stressing that while the former is famous for consultation and compromise, the latter is notorious for dictatorship, highhandedness and hegemony.

Eze Ohanwe who is also the chairman of Okigwe Elders Global Forum urged critical stakeholders in the country to inject justice, sanity, equity and fairness in the nation’s electoral system stating that that was why he backed Governor Hope Uzodimma on his insistence that Okigwe/ Onuimo block which had not produced a senator in the history of the Imo North senatorial district must take its turn in the last election through Chief Patrick Ndubueze.

He congratulated the Senator-Elect on his well-deserved victory at the polls describing it as a round peg in a round hole. He expressed optimism that he would justify the mandate given to him by the electorates.

On the ripple effect of the cashless atmosphere in the country, the Monarch argued that although the measure had tremendously assisted a number of the more advanced nations to tackle corruption, that of our country is suspected to have been politically motivated and targeted at some individuals.

He said: ” in the more advanced nations, the system usually allows both the new and the old currencies to work together for some time before placing a ban on the use of the old notes and also make alternative arrangements in such areas as agricultural storage, rail transportation and energy.

The Chairman of the governing council of Ihitte/Uboma College of Education, the traditional ruler said that the institution abandoned by the past administration had since been given a facelift.

According to him, while the student population had increased from 29 to 9,500, 49 courses had been approved by the relevant authorities, staff in acting capacities confirmed and dilapidated staff quarters renovated with regular payment of salaries and promotion of staff welfare.
