The Association of Islamic Youth Scholars (ITTIHAD) Offa held her 2022 lecture series and award presentation in grand style.

The lecture series which featured three lectures delivered by different scholars of repute was held on Monday 26th of December, 2022 in Offa Grammar School.

 

 

The Chairman of the occasion and former CMD, of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Prof. Abdulwaheed Olatinwo in his opening remarks commended the association for championing the course of religion. He noted that the association base on unity and togetherness is commendable for promoting religion and community development.

While speaking on Muslim youths and community development, Prof. Olalekan Busra Zakariyau from the department of Entrepreneurship and Business Studies, University of Technology, Minna stated the role of youths in community development with reference to the fact that the founding fathers of Islamic Associations and Community Secondary Schools in Offa started as youths to embark on many community projects which is now a reference point of development in Offa community.

 

 

Prof Zakariyau added that past prominent indigenes of Offa used their strength as youths to build a community leaving a good legacy behind for the youths to follow. He, therefore, charged the youths to take clues from the founding fathers to move the community forward.

Speaking further, he commended ITTIHAD on her numerous programs and tasked the association to deploy modern technological devices and social networks to project the good course of the association to the outside world.

 

 

Speaking on Entrepreneurship, Prof. Zakariyau said the Association should be placed on strategies and it should look for collaborators in different fields to revive the dead businesses in Offa through ITTIHAD.

Another lecturer, Dr. Imam Olalekan Kazeem Kolapo from the Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Osun State University spoke on youths’ involvement in the remodeling of the community: the Islamic perspective.

The ITTIHAD comprises Islamic Youth Scholars in Offa and the association engages in the management and maintenance of Offa Muslim community burial grounds, providing assistance to orphans and widows, visitation and assistance to the sick, visitation and assistance to the motherless homes and correctional centers, bringing all the Muslim youth scholars together and fostering peace, unity, and togetherness among many others.

 

 

The event was graced by notable Islamic scholars, prominent personalities, politicians, and great men, and women in Offa. Continue Reading
