Nationnewslead reports that Governor, State of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, has expressed commitment of his administration towards supporting socio-economic development of Ijesa people.

He said within the last two years of his administration, Ijesa land has benefited immensely from the massive interventions of the government in all the sectors.

Oyetola, who was represented by his deputy, Mr. Benedict Alabi, stated this on Saturday in Ilesa, at the Grand finale of the 2020 Iwude Ijesa festival, as he described the people as unique and enterprising, with abundant human and material resources.

According to him, Ijesa land has the capacity and the wherewithal to be the economic hub of Osun and the Southwest in general, if there is clarity of purpose among the people.

Oyetola averred, “In our aggressive move to support and sustain economic emancipation in Ijesha land, our administration has revitalized over 50 primary health care centres, as well as renovation of many schools, with necessary teaching materials.

“Also, there were massive construction and rehabilitation of roads, including 4.3km Ereja roundabout, Ereguru-Isaare-Irojo, Sabo-Ilesa-Akure expresswy, Ipetu-Ijesa township road, the 30km Irojo-Iperindo-Ipetu- Ijesa road inherited from the immediate past administration, which is now at advanced level of completion.

“In addition to this, our administration is fast rebuilding the historic Atakunmosa Market, the biggest market in Osun, in which it’s substantial part got burnt in 2015 and 2018.

“I hereby implore the good people of Ijesaland to take advantage of the massive projects in their land and in the state to further fast-track development and achieve better standard of living for the people.

“They must also spread wealth by encouraging their people at home to form and join Cooperative and Thrift Societies to start small businesses and enhance start-up businesses”.

He, however, urged the people to stand united behind government policies and initiatives, aimed at aiding development and growth of Ijesa-land and the state of Osun at large.
