An Appeal Court sitting in Lagos State has dismissed the petition filed by All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate Patrick Tonye-Cole, against Governor Siminalayi Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Tuesday.

Tonye Cole of the APC filed a petition for the court to order INEC declare him as winner of the March 18 guber elections in Rivers state.

Recall that the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had in October affirmed Fubara’s victory as governor of the state stating that the petition questioning Fubara’s victory had been withdrawn by Cole’s Party, APC and other opposition parties like the Labour Party and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) as lacking merit.

Cole, not satisfied by the ruling of the Tribunal, approached the Appeal Court which equally dismissed his petition, Tuesday, 28th November, 2023.
