The Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Council, Hon. Muhammed Danasabe Muhammed, passed away at 4:30 am on Friday at a hospital in Lokoja, Kogi State, according to a statement by Talba Lakwaja, the spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lokoja.
“This is to notify the general public that the remains of the Lokoja Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Mohammed Dasebe Mohammed, will be buried at the Anguwan Kura burial ground at 2 p.m. immediately after Jumma prayer. The body will depart from his family house at Cantonment to Lokoja Central Mosque by 1:30 pm,” the statement read.
The untimely demise of Muhammed occurred just hours before the scheduled governorship elections on Saturday, November 11. Reportedly, he had been actively participating in political meetings in preparation for the upcoming poll.
According to a family source, Muhammed collapsed at his residence and was promptly rushed to Shifa Hospital, Lokoja, on Thursday night. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his ailment.
Muhammed, who hails from Ward B in the cantonment area of Lokoja, is survived by his mother, wife, and children.
