The Executive Chairman, Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to staff welfare and entitlements.

The council chairman gave the assurance during the year 2023 pen-down ceremony held for senior, middle and junior cadre at the council secretariat on Wednesday.

While appreciating the elderly for dedicating 35 years of their active lives to public service, Dr Apatira advised the Seniors to enjoy their retirement with lots of time dedicated to enjoying their hobbies, friends and family.

He said, “We’ve enjoyed having you! Cheers to your retirement. Congratulations on your retirement and all the incredible years of meritorious service and commitment to the development of our district. Indeed, it’s wonderful to see committed and dedicated staff as deserving as you retire.

“I am proud to say all of you are worthy of honour and celebration and that is why we deem it fit to hold this reception as a token of appreciation for your diligence, commitment and dedication to duties and outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the public service and the LCDA in general.”

On his part, the council manager, Mrs Oluwakemi Oshun thanked the retirees for their meritorious service to the public service adding that it takes only the grace of God to start and end a journey on a fruitful note.

“My joy knows no bounds to be here today to celebrate with you and I think you all should be grateful to the Almighty for keeping you alive to witness this day in good health, celebrating with your families and friends,”

Oshun, while noting that there was no amount of accolades that could be enough to show appreciation for the contribution of the retirees to the state public service, stated that the send-forth ceremony was just one of the little ways the state could express gratitude for the exemplary contributions of the retirees.

The high point of the event was the presentation of gifts and certificates of excellence to the retirees by the executive chairman and other top echelon of the council.

The event also had in attendance, councillors, cabinet members, management team and members of staff.
