The Council of Legal Education (CLE) has given approval to Anchor University Lagos to run a degree programme in Law.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Samuel Oye Bandele expressed happiness over the development, saying the approval is timely as it happened when the 20232024 admission process is ongoing.

Bandele recalled that the journey to this stage started with the visit of the National Universities Commission (NUC) team last academic session and then followed by the Council of Legal Education team this year.

According to him, the two bodies were thorough in their assessment of our human resources, facilities as well as the environment and ensured they met the requirements before they gave their approvals.

The vice-chancellor, in a statement made available by the university’s spokesman, Mr Babatunde Oyetoro, noted that the legal education council team was impressed by the university’s preparation for the programme.

According to him, the Director General of the Council, Prof. Isa Hayatu Chiroma, who led the team particularly expressed his confidence that the university would effectively run the five years course and also promise to help out should needs arise in future.

“The team also commended us for our patience to wait for approval before we can start to admit students for the programme,” he added.

Prof Bandele pointed out that with the development, the university would give priority to candidates who chose it as their first choice for Law and at thesame time consider any of the returning students who may want to change to Law department and meet up with the admission requirements for law degree.

He also disclosed that the university is in collaboration with some foreign universities including University of Poland and Dominican University to jointly train its students in medical and computer engineering fields.

He, however, thanked the governing board, management and staff of the university for their unflinching support and cooperation to move the university forward.
