Following unbearable economic hardship under the watch of the APC-led federal government, residents of Minna, the capital of Niger, took to the streets on Monday morning to protest the high cost of living in the State.

The aggrieved protesters who consisted of men, women, and young people blocked major roads in the metropolis as they chanted solidarity songs.

The demonstrators, TRIBUNE ONLINE gathered, were particularly concerned about the increase in the prices of food items and the inadequate response of government to address the situation.

Reacting, the State Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba, said the government is aware of the pain and hardship families are faced with at this time. He said the government is working towards reducing the cost of living and consequences of the petrol subsidy removal.
