Idahosa Moses – Benin City

The former National Youth President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Dr Dele Oluwatade has advocated for the introduction of a regional parliamentary system of government in Nigeria adding that “Nigerian politicians do not understand politics”.

He argued that the regional parliamentary would help to eradicate bad governance from the country if adopted.

Oluwatade, who made the call on Friday while fielding questions from journalists in Benin, said that the restructuring of the country would help to bring rapid development to the various regions in Nigeria.

“Nigerian politicians do not understand politics, if they understand politics as service to the community, they will opt for a parliamentary system of government for the nation.

“Tinubu, Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso and others have moved around the whole Nigeria in order to be president, whereas, we will only choose one out of them.

“But if we have eight regions, I know that Atiku will most likely win his North East Region, Tinubu the South West, Obi the South East and Kwankwaso the North West Region. And others like that,” he posited.
