The 2023 general election in Nigeria came with so much controversies on which of the candidates best suites the presidential position.
However, there were mixed emotions following President Bola Tinubu’s victory, including excitement and uncertainty. While some Nigerians were confident that the election of President Tinubu would significantly contribute to the constructive transformation of the Nigerian state, some felt that nothing good could come from the government.
Nevertheless, nothing seems to have changed in the last few months. In fact, the misery and suffering of the masses have worsened more than ever before, and nothing seems to be working again in the country. The status of most countries of the world is improving in terms of development. Advanced countries are improving in the state of development, while some developing nations are also striving hard to change their narrative.
This begs the following questions: Does Nigeria have a space in the changing global order? Do we really understand what our problems are as a nation? How sincere and committed are we in addressing our problems? What hope do we have as nation in making Nigeria a better place to live?
In a time like this, it is imperative to go back to the drawing board and be intentional in solving our challenges as a nation.
Irrespective of tribe, political and religion affiliations, a concerted effort is needed to have a reorientation of what leadership is all about.
The earlier we realise that leadership positions come with responsibilities and obligations the better for us as a nation.
