The National Universities Commission (NUC) has commended the Federal University of Technology, Minna for its feat in research, innovation and collaboration at all levels.

Leader of the NUC monitoring team on research and collaboration, Dr. Funmilayo Morebise stated
this during an exit meeting with the University Management on Friday, March 31, 2023 at the Senate Chamber, Main Campus, Gidan Kwano.

Dr. Morebise who is a Deputy Director in the NUC commended the cordial relationship among the University staff and the efforts of the management.

She emphasised the need for FUT, Minna to have a research complex that befits the kind of researches done in the University as it would help to further showcase such researches.

The Vice-Chancellor who was
represented by the Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Oladiran Abubakre appreciated the team’s enormous input
and promised to give more attention to
showcasing all of the researches from the University as FUT, Minna takes research very seriously.

The team was earlier received by the VC, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta on Thursday, March 30, 2023 during a courtesy visit to Management where Dr. Morebise revealed that the exercise was the first
of its kind, as there was need to revitalize research in Nigeria which is an important component of the functions of the university and critical to national development.

The NUC representative stated that, the aim of the exercise was to generate information that would assist the Commission in its effort towards
revitalizing research activities in the Nigerian University System (NUS).

“This is the beginning of greater and better things to come in relation with the mission and vision of NUC,” she stressed.

In his response during the courtesy visit, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta welcomed the team and said that, a lot of development and innovation are coming up in the NUC and the
University appreciated them, because without peer review the University would be assuming that everything is okay.

He stated that the exercise would make
universities assess and re-assess themselves, adding that, FUT, Minna has quite a number of laudable research outputs that have been made, while wishing the team a successful operation.
