In a recent development, former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has made a public appeal to the UK government, urging them to show leniency in the case of former Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who has been found guilty of facilitating organ trafficking.

Ekweremadu, his wife, and a doctor were found guilty of aiding the travel of a young man to the UK, with the intention of exploiting him.

The six-week trial at the Old Bailey concluded with the trio’s conviction, prompting Obasanjo to issue a statement appealing for clemency in their sentencing.

The former Nigerian President is known for his efforts towards promoting justice and good governance in Africa.
