STUDENTS from various institutions in Ogun State have commended the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for upgrading the Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese, to Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences.

The students, under the auspices of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ogun State Joint Campus Committee (JCC) and National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS), gave the commendation while reacting to the approval for conversion of the college to polytechnic status.

Chairman of NANS Ogun JCC axis, Damilola Simeon Kehinde, and the national president of NAOSS, Oluwagbemileke Ogunrombi, said the upgrade would create more access to higher education in the state.

They observed that this was in concordance with the yearnings of Nigerian students towards enjoying qualitative education like their global counterparts.

according to them, Dapo Abiodun has further consolidated on his efforts to deliver not just qualitative education, but also a conducive environment and rich academic contents a

Kehinde particularly noted that the institution had further benefited from the ingenuity of Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration as it school is now certified to award National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in all accredited courses.

“As the leadership of all Nigerian Students in Ogun State, we want to acknowledge, commend and laud Governor Dapo Abiodun for not deviating from the pact of optimal delivery he has with Nigerian students in Ogun State.

“Beyond reasonable doubt, the governor has fulfilled and is still fulfilling his promises to place Ogun State’s educational sector at the global pinnacle.

“This is why we have resolved to commission a statewide campaign and orientation activities targeted at market men and women, the elderly and general public to ensure that all hands are on deck to ensure that Governor  Abiodun returns as Governor for the second term,” he added.

“We must however, remind the students of the Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, as well as the residents and indigenes of Ilese community that the upgrading process is only one of the several initiatives conceived by the Governor to benefit the school as well as the community.

“While many have been completed, there are still scores yet to be completed.

“Therefore, students, residents, citizens and all other stakeholders are enjoined to mobilise and galvanise the neighbourhood’s electorates to vote and support the re-emergence of Prince Dapo Abiodun for second term.

“This is the only certain avenue to prevent the miscarriage of a bright future ahead for the community and the higher institution,” he stated.
