The people of Kogi State have been assured of quality healthcare services at the Reference Hospital Okene in the New Year.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Solomon Avidime, gave the assurance while addressing staff at an end-of-year programme on the hospital premises.

Professor Avidime, who acknowledged the role played by all the staff in the successful running of the health facility through hard work and commitment to duty, urged them to sustain the tempo as they enter the year 2024, assuring that there will be more job opportunities for unemployed youths as soon as it expands its operations.

He maintained that within 4 months of his assumption of duty, the hospital had handled over a hundred safe deliveries, carried out over a hundred surgeries, and performed other medical services in the 250-bed capacity hospital.

According to him, medical students from the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) in Osara will not have to go far for clinical practices as the hospital will work in collaboration with the institution to provide such services, stating that the availability of modern state-of-the-art facilities will aid their training.

The CMD called on well-to-do individuals from Ebiraland to support the hospital in rendering services to the indigent in need of dire medical attention through payment of their bills.

He expressed appreciation to the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, for the establishment of the hospital as well as the recruitment of staff, assuring that they would justify the huge government investment in the medical facility.

In their various goodwill speeches, the Vice Chancellor of the Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara, Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita, and the member representing Okene/Ogori-Magongo at the House of Representatives, Ahmed Ozigi Tijjani, among others, commended the CMD and his management team for a job well done within a short time in office.

They urged the staff to continue to give their total support and cooperation to the CMD and remain committed to duty for the hospital to attain greater heights.

The high point of the occasion was the presentation of the Award of Excellence to the CMD in recognition of his service to humanity.
