Current hardship will work against APC — Legal

By Adedotun Aderemi, Ejigbo

In anticipation of the 2026 gubernatorial election in Osun State, significant shifts in strategy are underway within the All Progressives Congress (APC). Amidst these developments, questions arise about the influence of former Governor Aregbesola and the emerging role of the Labour Party.

A trusted insider revealed that Aregbesola is actively seeking support from key stakeholders, promising financial backing to grassroots leaders and party members. His potential alignment with the Labour Party has stirred conversations within APC circles, prompting calls for a reassessment of the party’s tactics.

One proposed solution involves the formation of local task forces, each comprising five members across the state’s 31 local governments. These teams would be equipped with financial resources to rally support for the APC within their communities, countering Aregbesola’s efforts and solidifying the party’s grassroots presence.

Concerns also arise about effectively communicating the party’s message to less literate individuals, who may not engage on social media. To bridge this gap, suggestions include forming a think-tank committee comprising elders and youths. This committee would engage with like-minded individuals in local communities, elucidating the differences between the APC’s agenda and Aregbesola’s.

Furthermore, initiatives are underway to evaluate the influence and credibility of former party officials at the local level. Those still wielding political sway would be entrusted with specific tasks to bolster the APC’s position within their constituencies.

In light of heightened political maneuvering by rival factions, stakeholders stress the need for a comprehensive evaluation of the party’s strengths and weaknesses in each local government area. Strategies to address identified weaknesses and leverage strengths are being crafted to ensure a united and effective campaign leading up to the election.

As the countdown to the 2026 election progresses, it’s evident that the Osun APC is undergoing strategic realignment. With influential figures like Aregbesola and the Adeleke family shaping the political landscape, the party is urged to remain vigilant and proactive.

In conclusion, the imperative is clear: the APC must awaken from its slumber and mobilize resources at every level to secure victory in the upcoming election.
