“In this context and related others, Mr. Governor’s morality is contagious: the dynamic of his peace advocacy will increase the speed of adaptability of our party people and interested bystanders into a cohesive animated Osun APC, with no one having further recourse to any parallel conducts. Please, check me up on this take”
Isaac Olufemi Olusesi : comment on Facebookwall (Aug. 25, 2021)

In Nigeria, State of Osun, leaders of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) across levels in the state are either being physically forceful, with invasion tactics, an incendiary device or are legally forceful with judicial tactics, a deterrence device.

Overwhelmed by emotions on broken lines with chilling effects, painfully in the same direction of ritual past, and uncared to coverture or veil their actions, used before in the Osun inter-party electoral heists (2005-2010) but today, practically unsuitable in same political family, the state APC leadership on both sides of the figment divide has only recorded many misses, a colossal strategic error with disaster hooded, shrouded or masked.

Unimpressively, the party leaders, state wide, failed to handle the perceived or real group differences or conflicts within the party on less sly, less manipulative, less counterproductive delivery to the apolitical acknowledgement of public applause. Why?

The Osun party leaders in battle are not savvy, too glued to abrasive maneuvers contrasted sharply with maintaining peaceful exterior strategically much needed in multiparty politics, with the opposition party prying eye ajar, deceptively looking away.

The pull and push of the warring state APC leaders, not motivational: the gruesome invasion of the party house in Osogbo, state capital, unleashed mayhem, ultra; court option, gruffly; and the centripetal and centrifugal exploits on both sides, so willful, so wily, so frightening, so depriving, so contemptible, so despicable, and mindlessly bizarre, outlandish: a masculine and depressively dangerous pursuit of needless war declared on the party to kill it and hangs its albatross on Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s era.

Unkindly posterity in the making, not to be. It’s Unacceptable, condemnable.

The scenario has rather made the Osun APC leaders in scrable, fray or acrimony, mere tacticians; operationally, not strategists in any utility sense. The party leaders in disputation, discord have caused the party intra feud spiral skywards, with deep seated frustration, utter confusion and inertial ingested in the party, leaving party members with bruised psyche over mere intra disequilibrium, to the hasty abandonment of the party to self defeat in any ultimate vote ‘war’ at polls. But we all as one and united APC, shall win the next governorship poll, other elections in Osun ‘by the power of God and goodwill of the people of the state.’

Of course, yes! Osun APC just at its fringe and in the nick of time, a peace advocacy, the Oyetola Grand Strategy (OGS), from the state helmsman, a complete gentleman of a rare kind, never physically forceful, never legally forceful, has collapsed both the party leaders’ violent physical force and deterrent legal force. Really? Come along!

The OGS, a qualitative advance over emotions is bred by more effective presence of mind, rationality and vision, pointing up Oyetola as one who thinks seriously, more deeply in all directions, vitally sensitive to the highly politicized internal non- concurrence milieu of Osun APC.

Oyetola’s grand strategy is commendably aimed at pulling the party back from the brink to cease the party extant internal conflicts, break off its internal strife, let up internal dissension, shutoff internal warfare, arrest internal schism, and discontinue internal fight; and to repair damages caused to the party, recreate or regain its courage, recharge or reload party members’ confidence, resuscitate or regenerate harmony, and restore or return inner strength to Osun APC.

Hear Oyetola: “As Governor, I have directed our party chairman to discontinue the court case in the interest of peace and harmony within the party.” Underscoring, that’s lending credence to the stringent directive is the maxim: “In Peace lies Unity, in Unity lies Strength,” and the axiom is seductive to me for its non-intuitive value and germane exigency of the OGS context. How?

Every political war is different, melee, dramatis personae, objectives, strategies, costs and casualties, in terms. The ritual past, 2005-2010 politico-electoral battles and court cases in Osun that worked for the progressives then may not work for today’s same progressives’ intra feud; and if it should, then the casualty might be much more grievous than imagined akin somewhat to the house of cards, crumbling one fortress after the other in the direction of wild, wirld winds that leaves OGS peace advocacy the only window to reinstate greater unity in Osun APC.

Oyetola’s peace drive is best for soft sailing at much more lower costs than expenses incurable on thugs and thuggery, litigation and solicitors, and insecurity and security operatives. Think about other expenses on such intangibles as goodwill to squander, furry of the losers and their sympathizers, loss of precious time, hidden debts or compensation to allies, psychological and physiological effects of exhaustion to bear and other probable unforeseen problems that could induce further unquantifiable panics and confusion.

History is littered with the corpses of those who ignored similar costs in the Osun 2005-2010 inter party imbroglio. Let the state APC stay off politics of superfluous costs of violence, litigation and accessory costs after the facts of both actions, to afford party members live proverbially, “to fight another day,” and preserve in composite, the extant peace of Osun, on sustainable basis.

Implying, it is not socio-eco- politically viable, stooping to all kinds of physical force and legal force. And correspondingly thus, no one member of Osun APC is to be identified any longer as enemy, real or potential; no battle line, to be re- drawn; no conflict, brawl or feud, to be heard again; no one else to up rudeness, arrogance, pride, or thwart, attack the other physically, legally; and no one to mask or mimick any aggressive desire, or provoke further tension, eye ball to eye ball or conceal behind any complicated networks of rudderless dynamism or activism.

While feeling guilty or absolved, wronged or victimized, offensive or defensive, and dangerous or treacherous by past actions or activities against the party or party members should be interred, buried in the Yakub Gowon ‘No victor, no vanquished’’ post 1967-1970 Nigerian Civil War mantra. Osun APC cannot be rested; it must not be scattered either; and to keep the party grow and glow is a task for all in unison and peace, again paraphrasing Gowon’s “…to keep Nigeria one is a task that must done..” after the war.

And that’s the truth.

Indeed, Oyetola’s peace blitz is infectious. What?
