The Chairman of Presidential visitation panel, Professor Duro Oni has cleared air on the purpose of setting up the panel by the Federal Government.

Recall that visitation panels were set up for all Federal Polytechnics in Nigeria by Federal Government through the Ministry of Education to assess the performance of the institution, assign areas of governance, academic standards , quality assurance, management of fiances and relationship between the Management, staff, students and the Polytechnic community at large.

 

 

The 7-man panel set up arrived at the Polytechnic on 26th of April, 2021 to carry out their mandate as assigned by the Federal Government.

Meanwhile, during a welcoming program held at the Polytechnic main campus , the Chairman made it known to the management, staff, students and the polytechnic community that the purpose of the visitation panel is not to witch hunt anyone or intimidate the Polytechnic. He disclosed this while addressing the staff of the Polytechnic on Tuesday 27th of April 2021.

According to him ” Giving us this mandate, The Honorable Minister clearly stated that the exercise is not a witch hunt nor jamboree of unnecessary and wasteful spending. Our job is to listen to everyone, we are not a court of law and we are not going to pass judgment on anyone. All we are expected to do is to study the situation of the polytechnic and make recommendation for the betterment of all the Polytechnics in Nigeria.”

 

Speaking further, Prof. Oni charged the Polytechnic community to submit memoranda to the panel as all sides would be treated with confidentiality.

 

 

The Rector in his welcome address thanked the Federal Government through the Ministry of Education for gathering the crop of seasoned administrators who are technocrats and adept educationists as members of the visitation panel to the Polytechnic. The Rector however expressed his confidence in the team that made up the panel as one that will eradicate the challenges facing Polytechnic education and rejig the Polytechnic System in Nigeria with their recommendations.

Dr. Olatunji therefore assured the panel of maximum support and cooperation from both the Management, Staff, students and the Polytechnic Community at large.

    It is interesting to note that hat journalism lately seems to have lost its place in the minds of most Nigerian. I always ask myself this simple question.do we still have journalists? If yes,why is there know critical investigation and reports with respect to Erin Ile and Offa boundary disputes for over 40years. Despite the supreme court jurment.
