At the name of Jesus Christ, every storm in your life will bow. The Lord Jesus has power over every trouble or challenge that any person may face. All you have to do is to call upon Him. He says,

Matthew 7:7-8  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

There is a simple way that the Lord deals with storms that threaten our peace. That is the same way God the Father dealt with the darkness, void and formlessness that existed in the beginning (Genesis 1: 1 – 4). The Lord Jesus will not go into frenzy because of a storm. In the episode that we saw in Mark chapter 4, he did not commence a rescue drill. He did not perform evacuation of water. He did not exert himself in any emergency activity. What did our Lord do? He simply spoke to the wind. Mark recorded the episode thus:

Mark 4:39  And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

The account that Luke gave of the same episode equally recorded that the Lord rebuked the wind (Luke 8: 24). That gives us insight into not just what He spoke, but also how He spoke to the wind.

Often, when the children of Israel had any challenge, their leaders would resort to God. The Bible is replete with stories of threats overcome and challenges dealt with in their lives because God spoke. For example, when they faced the Red Sea and Moses was perplexed, it took a word from God to resolve the perplexing situation. When they also crossed the Jordan, but met a fenced-in Jericho, it was the word from God that provided a solution.

The judges and the priests relied always on the word of God to meet the needs of the nation; and the word came through for them time and again. A very dramatic example was recorded in 2Kings chapter 6 and 7. Benhadad, the king Syria, had laid siege on Samaria, which resulted in great famine. The famine was so severe that two women agreed to slaughter and eat their children. When the king got to hear of this, of course he was heart-broken; and he transferred the aggression towards Elisha the prophet of God. How did Elisha deal with the situation? He relayed the word of God to the king:

2 Kings 7:1  Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

God’s word is necessary and effective for solving human problems. Seek His word today.
