A 40-year-old suspected car thief, Abubakar Mohammed has been arrested by the Police at the popular Abdullahi Abdulkadri Kure Ultra Modern Market, in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Nige State

The State Police Command police through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Wasiu said the suspect; was arrested based on a quick response to a distressed call to the GRA, Minna Divisional Police Headquarters by concerned citizens names withheld.

The PPRO who informed Journalists in Minna in a Press statement issued and made available to newsmen over the weekend in Minna said the suspect who was a resident in Tudun-Fulani, Bosso Local Government Area of the State was allegedly attempting to drive a Honda Civic vehicle marked: KAG 371 AA out of the A.A. Kure Ultra Modern Market in a suspicious manner which attracted mob action.

He stated further that the suspected car thief was rescued from the irate mob, while his arrest was effected by the Police and during interrogation, he was said to have confessed to having removed the vehicle from the car park with a fabricated key, with the intention to sell it to one Bashir Mohammed, a receiver of stolen goods based in Mando area in Kaduna State.

The statement further stated that the suspected car thief was further quoted to have confessed to the Police investigators to stealing one red colour Honda Civic (Joker) vehicle from the popular market around March 2023.

“He said that he sold the vehicle to the same Bashir in Kaduna at the rate of N200,000.00 adding that he used the money for a shoe business at Kasuwar-Wanbai in Kano State.

” He further claimed that he needed more money for farming and to build a personal house in Wushishi, LGA of Niger State with the view to prepare himself for marriage, stressing that he( the suspect) didn’t have a wife at the moment, thereby responsible for his reasons for his second action,” the PPRO maintained.

DSP Abiodun has however assured that the matter was under investigation at the State Criminals Investigation and Intelligence Department, in Minna, with an effort to proceed to Kaduna State for the arrest of the said suspected stolen goods receiver, Bashir Mohammed, for further investigation.

He said at the completion of the police investigation, the suspects would be arraigned in court and charged for prosecution.
