Police arrest 7 suspected kidnappers syndicates in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested seven suspected kidnappers who have been terrorizing residents of Alkaleri LGA of the state.

The members of the kidnap syndicate arrested are Isah Gambo, 25 years old; Hamza Ali, 26 years old; Ali Isyaku, 27 years old; Danlami Isyaku, 30 years old; Abubakar Isyaku, 25 years old; Adamu Alh. Lado, 30 years old; and Usman Dan Asibi, also known as Na Mansur, 30 years old, all from Mansur and Papa Yalo villages.

According to a press release by the Command’s PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili, preliminary investigations revealed that the aforementioned suspects are the notorious kidnappers terrorizing the Alkaleri community and beyond.

The police conducted raids and searches at their various hideouts, leading to the recovery of prohibited firearms, including one locally-made revolver pistol, one locally-made AK-47 rifle, one locally-made fabricated pistol, and one locally-made pump action.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crimes, and a discreet investigation has been launched. The suspects will be charged to court for prosecution once the investigation is concluded.

SP Ahmed Wakili stated that the Bauchi State Police Command, in collaboration with the quasi-security outfit (Professional Hunters), carried out sustained operations to raid identified black spots and kidnappers’ dens in Babarko village via Pali District and Yalo Karekare, Digare PAPA villages via Gwana District.

In another development, on July 14, 2023, a commercial motorcyclist named Saleh Ahmadu reported an incident in which two unknown persons boarded his motorcycle and then assaulted him with an iron rod, attempting to snatch his motorcycle.

However, he raised an alarm and people came to his rescue, causing the suspects to abandon the motorcycle and escape.

The police arrested one Munkailu Haruna, aged 22 years, from Gandiyel village, Itas-Gadau LGA, in connection with the incident. The police recovered a knife, an iron rod used in the crime, and a bag from the suspect.

Investigations are ongoing, and further updates will be provided in due course.
