A 22-year-old Usman Sabiu and Nafiu Umar, 18-year-old, both from Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State have been apprehended by the police for alleged kidnapping and killing a 13-year-old boy identified as Yasir Salisu.

Wasiu Abiodun, the State Police Public Relations Officer, while parading the suspects on Monday, explained that the deceased was killed by his abductors as a cover-up after identifying them to be his neighbours.

According to the PPRO, Yasir Salisu was reported missing on July 29.

He further explained that during interrogation, Usman Sabiu confessed to having conspired with Nafiu Umar and abducted the missing person and took him to the residence of Nafiu, with the intention of collecting N100,000 from the victim’s father as ransom.

The police spokesman stated that the suspects alleged that the victim was strangled to death when he could not produce his father’s contact number to demand ransom, having also identified them.

The PPRO explained, “In the course of the investigation, the suspects led police operatives to a river bank in Hayin-Nasarawa where the deceased was buried in a shallow grave; however, the corpse was exhumed and deposited at Umar Yar’adua Hospital morgue for autopsy.”

He advised parents and guardians to monitor their ward’s movement within the community for safety against the unknown. Continue Reading
