The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Imo State Police Command has apprehended a notorious kidnap kingpin identified as Aralu Chukwudi Charis, from Otolo in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State.
His arrest followed credible intelligence and a well-coordinated operation led by CSP Olademeji Odeyeyiwa, which led the operatives to the criminal hideout of the suspect at Mgbidi in Oru East LGA of Imo State where he was ambushed.
In a statement issued in Owerri on Monday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, it was revealed that the suspect masterminded several kidnapping and armed robbery operations in Imo State.
He mentioned that during the search of the criminal’s hideout, an Ash-Colored Toyota Camry, 2005 model, with registration number MUS 509 DS Lagos, reportedly snatched, was recovered.
The Police Spokesman added that during the investigation, the suspect confessed to being the gang leader of a deadly criminal syndicate terrorizing the people of Imo State and provided crucial information that would assist the determined operatives in the arrest of his syndicate at large.

He also stated that the suspect would be arraigned in court upon the completion of a comprehensive investigation.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to continually clamp down on unrepentant criminal syndicates perpetrating insecurity in the State.
The CP advised the residents of Imo State, particularly the youths, to eschew crime, warning that perpetrators would always be exposed and, in most cases, end up in tragedy.
