The Rotary Club of Ibadan Jericho Metro on Wednesday identified with the underprivileged at the Primary Healthcare Center, Oke-Are, Ibadan.

The Club donated items, including, foodstuff, sugar, vegetable oil to beneficiaries.
About 80 people benefitted from the gesture organised by the Club in collaboration with George SKDD Foundation, Houston, Texas, U.S.A.

Speaking at the presentation, the president of Rotary Club, Ibadan Jericho Metro, Mr Damilola Olaleye said the gesture was crucial and in line with Rotary’s area of focus, just as he promised on behalf of the club to continue to support the needy in the society.

He said,”We have been doing this over the years; the last one was at Mapo last month. It is a monthly event which we organise to help people and give back to the society; we know the government is trying but we want to assist and to see how far we can reach.

“So that’s why we have made this like a kind of palliative. It is a food pack where we have rice, beans, salt, sugar, indomie and so many other goodies and we have come to Oke-Are to see that people of the community also benefit.

“The last programme we did, 50 people benefitted but for this one about 80 people are benefitting, everyone here is with their food pack for them to celebrate the festive season.

Also, the club’s Service Director, Omolara Oluborode, disclosed that the gesture is a monthly programme saying “We do this on a monthly basis in partnership with Ken and Sarah George, a foundation that is based in Texas, United States. The last time we were at the Olubadan’s  palace to distribute the food packs to members of the community and today, we are at this Primary Healthcare Centre.”

A Community leader, Chief Ridwan Are, commended Rotary Club for the gesture, adding that residents of the area are appreciative of the support.
