Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed his appreciation for the Supreme Court’s verdict, which affirmed President Bola Tinubu’s electoral victory in the February 25, 2023 presidential election, validating him as the duly elected leader of Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the Supreme Court’s judgment as a reaffirmation of the people’s mandate, freely given to President Bola Tinubu to lead Nigeria from May 29, 2023, to May 29, 2027.

The governor acknowledged that the conclusive phase of the political journey, which commenced over a year ago, had now reached its culmination with the Supreme Court’s confirmation. He called upon all Nigerians, particularly those in the opposition, to unite with the president in advancing the nation.

“We have now reached the culmination of a political journey that began over a year ago. Today’s verdict by the Apex Court in Nigeria has unequivocally declared Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

I urge all Nigerians, especially opposition parties, to join the president in his efforts to lead Nigeria out of its current state and towards a better future. We all must contribute to the development of Nigeria because we have no other place to call home except Nigeria,” he stated.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also commended the judiciary for upholding the truth and safeguarding the country’s emerging democracy.

He called on Nigerians from all political affiliations to collaborate with President Bola Tinubu in delivering the tangible benefits of democracy to the nation through the Renewed Hope agenda of the incumbent administration. He emphasised that the Supreme Court’s ruling was a triumph for democracy and the rule of law.
