Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have donated their one-month salaries amounting to N109 million to the victims of the drone attack that killed over 100 people at Tudun Biri in the Igabi local government area of Kaduna state.

This was made known by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, when he led some senators on behalf of the Senate to sympathise with the people of Kaduna State on Sunday.

He said the Red Chamber is concerned about the unfortunate incident that led to the wanton loss of lives.

“In this hour of grief, we are with the people, the bereaved families, and the state government. On behalf of the Senate President, Goodwill Akpabio, and all the 109 senators, we want to express our heartfelt condolences to them.

“We also want to declare that all the senators—109 of us—have agreed to donate our one-month salaries to the victims of the unfortunate incident. We are therefore donating N109m.

Responding, the state government’s Senator Uba Sani expressed his pleasure at the prompt visit of both the executives and the legislative arms over the incident.

The Governor also expressed his displeasure over an attempt by some disgruntled elements to bring religious and ethnic sentiments to the attack.

He said the issue has nothing to do with religion or ethnicity, saying that in Kaduna we are not divided over religious faiths.

“Both Christians and Muslims are one, he said.

He also resolved that the state government would continue to support the security agencies.

While thanking the senators for the visit, Governor Uba Sani once again called for the creation of state police.
