Seven internet fraudsters bag jail terms in Ogun, Oyo

Seven suspects have received various jail terms for internet-related offences in Ogun and Oyo, as announced by the Oyo and Ogun High Courts in Ibadan and Abeokuta.

The convicts were presented before Justices M.O. Ishola, O.A. Lajide, and S.O. Adeniyi of the Oyo and Ogun States High Courts on a one-count charge by the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Their offense pertained to personation, as outlined in Section 484 of the Criminal Code Law Cap 38, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The EFCC, through its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, stated that the convicts pleaded guilty to the charges.

As per the statement, the jail terms range from two to four months of community service, along with the payment of fines as prescribed by law.

Additionally, the convicts have been ordered to restitute their various victims and forfeit all items recovered from them to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The convicted individuals are Adio Peter Olakunle, Adebanjo Oluwafemi Samuel, Ezekiel Papi Kolawole, Lukman Olakunle Alabi, Sakiru Olamilekan Usman, Godwin Moses Abaka, and Amosu Oladele Gbenon.
