The unapproved Sandwish Representives Council (SRC) has frowned at the inconsistent level of thier academic calenders for the past two years by the University management.

 

In his statement, the ex-formal speaker of the sandwish students council said he was very aware that Covid-19 distort the academic calenders of many institutions still yet many institutions has been getting out of the havoc.
He sight the example of web calendar for the institutes which has been outdated since 2017/2018 session and he noted that all his efforts to approach the concerns authority was proved abortive.

 

In a statement, the group enjoined the University management to look into the issue of spending six years for Bachelor of Education instead of normal four years that all other institutions are using having spent three years for their Nigeria Certificate on Education (NCE) at all levels and to give priority attention to sandwich education to enhance the nation’s growth and development.

 

“We hereby appeal to the university governing council to give priority attention to sandwich education by improving its budgetary allocation to the sector in line with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation’s (UNESCO) recommendation noting that we are the main sources of university IGR. This would enhance the proper functioning of our sandwich educational system and in no time, we would have world-class institutions where aspirants touch-down, “he said.

The association also called on management to emulate their Kwara state counterpart, who allows sandwich to have their own union for the self interest.

 

The ex-formal Leader Rt. Com. Adewuyi also commended the immediate past Speaker Rt. Kayode Olu. Omitoogun, for shelving the proposed increment in tuition fees and averting crisis in the school, also for working vigorously with the management to see to the success of all the students and for successful handing over of the leadership of the council.

 

“We commend Prof. Lasle Yahaya formal director of Institute of Education for its effort to make quality education affordable to the poor by rejecting the planned hike in tuition fee for institutions.”
