A group, Crusade for Greater Nigeria on Poverty Eradication and Social Justice, has called on the six area councils chairmen in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to support the minister, Nyesom Wike, in his infrastructure drive.

President of the group, Prosper Okafor, encouraged them to provide measures that will see to successful completion of the projects.

He said Wike’s approach to issues is an indication that the FCT under his watch will be different if he is given the necessary support.

In a statement issued recently, Okafor urged the chairmen, residents and other stakeholders to always play their roles in protecting the multiple projects embarked upon by the minister.

He said irrespective of religious, political and ethnic groups, the wellbeing of Abuja residents should be paramount to everyone.

According to him, since the creation of the FCT, no serious attention in the area of infrastructure had been given to people at the grassroots.

“The six area councils chairmen in the FCT should support the minister to succeed in his infrastructure drive for all road projects sited in rural areas, it is the duty of the people to ensure that the contractor and workers do not have obstacles” the statement read.

“It is an opportunity that Abuja people must be serious with, irrespective of political, religious and ethnic affiliations,” the statement read.
